I’m Charlie, a woodworker, and print maker, making handcrafted items using local and responsibly managed materials.
I started woodworking over ten years ago in a woodland in Hampshire, carving spoons with a penknife with friends. That early experience sparked a long-term interest in working with raw materials.
I later trained at the Cherry Wood Project under Tim Gatfield, where I learned green woodworking techniques alongside woodland management. This training gave me the practical skills to harvest, process, and work wood by hand, and to understand the wider impact of how materials are sourced.
Sustainability guides every part of my work. I prioritise local timber and natural materials wherever possible, and I’m transparent about where they come from. In most cases, I can tell you which woodland the wood came from and who manages it. Rather than relying on vague claims, I try to focus on honest sourcing.
Greenwashing has made it difficult for people to know what they’re really buying. My aim is to offer a straightforward alternative: well-made, functional objects produced with care for the land, biodiversity, and long-term use.
